THE BENEFITS
You will leave the workshop knowing the basics of knitting, with a renewed passion in craft and creative work. We think of making together as a very powerful practice and we want to encourage that during “The Knit Club”: talking and connecting among the participants will be facilitated and encouraged during the session, so that by the end the final product won’t be only a knitted square but an experience of sociality and community.
why choose us?
Established in 2022, Craft Forward is a Community Interest Company based in London designed to provide accessible, creative, experiences suitable for everyone. We re-define and re-frame arts and crafts through workshops that value well-being and connection over results and technical achievements, while having a clear social purpose.
We work with organisations interested in activating their spaces with activities that provide meaningful engagement, bringing people and communities together in a meaningful way and creating products that make a difference.
We think of arts and crafts as smaller, valuable actions that contribute to the community’s growth and that can tackle bigger social issues; one of our main initiatives is “Blankets for the World,” which started back in 2020. Every year, we create hand-knit and crocheted blankets for people experiencing houselessness across the world. So far, we’ve made 991 blankets and brought together over 4000 people through this project.
We believe that arts and crafts can be a catalyst for social change and can also have a big impact on people’s mental health and well-being. Craft Forward provides a range of workshops and creative events for specific communities and the general public alike. Our workshops are a way for people to come together, learn a new skill, and make new connections.
